Europe Trip #1 – April 8, 2022 – Salzburg

Little did we realize what a big day this was going to be. It was great!!

As is our way, Buds and I were up and out for a tromp around town; up into the hills and all around.

I had not seen a Swatch store in a long time. The Frida Kahlo edition was released while we were here and there was a line up to get into the store to get one.

The old-fashioned “door bells” going up the side of the buildings to the windows of the various apartments and floors overhead.

What would Mozart think?

It was misty one.

The beautiful metal roofs and efficient use of spaces

Love locks

The amazing way buildings are built into the hills.

We hiked through the old city walls to the other side where our apartment was the last time we were here in 2018. We were very proud of ourselves that we could still find it.

We wandered into a church for a moment of peace.

Later in the morning we connected with all our travel companions and we headed up to tour the Festung together.

It was a great hike to get up there, plus it was a really well done tour/museum. Lots to explore and learn, and it offered gorgeous views.

You don’t always get to see the toilets. 😁

These two crack me up.

Buds and Buster broke off from our group after the fortress, but the rest of us took off on a grand march over the mountain to a “dining hall” where Kel used to go often for inexpensive, abundant food. Hearing Kelly stories and seeing her relive good moments from her time here was definitely one of the highlights of these parts of the trip for me.

It was loooonnnngggg walk, but everyone kept up pretty good spirits, and we were so glad to finally get there.

Buds walked over to meet us (using the bus and the flat route through town).

Just as the sun was going down in a golden glow, we headed out again after some food and rest for an evening concert back up in the castle/fortress.

We were each a little surprised the first time we came across “Sphaera.

Should he really be up there?

We took the funicular up the mountain this time, which was a great relief.

The concerts was a delightful, relaxing treat, and a great way to round out a very full day.

We slept very well this night.
