Maudlin Monday-Christmas 2006

Maudlin Monday-Christmas 2006
Yessa loved the football hold.

Another post highlighting the past.

2006 would be our last Christmas in The Big Yellow House. With the alternating holiday schedule we used at that time, it was the year our family was supposed to go to Vermont for Christmas, but I had to tell Buds there was no way I could do it. I could not take our 6 week old across the country, leaving my mother to get through the first Christmas without my dad.

With one of his brother's and wife in Chicago and the rest of the families in Vermont and Virginia, Buds reached out and asked them if they would be willing to come to us. They were all willing to do it, and the plans were made. The Virginia family didn't come because their kiddo was too sick to travel, but everyone else had a good time.

We moved to Virginia 6 weeks later, so it was good to have one last rousing celebration to soak the walls of the yellow house with love and laughter.

Not sure why Megs has a pill bottle. πŸ˜†
Yessa was such a doll.
Baby Yessa snuggled in there.
Opening presents.
That smirk. 😁
Enjoying the new presents.
Giggling over games.
Megs loved Baby Yessa.
Aunt L swooping in to save Yessa from the plastic sippy cup of bonks.
There was a lot of game play and baby holding.

I had this brilliant idea that we should take some family photos. Gina lent us a large purple cloth for a backdrop, and my mom was lovely about snapping the shutter on the camera on the tripod.

Grandma always shows up.
Happy family. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Sheer chaos, and I'm still glad we did it.

I think Buddie's parents might have stayed at my mom's house. I do not remember much about food or activities. It would have been a sad, stressful time, but so happy to see these sweet baby faces now; all four of them in college and doing well. And all the non-baby faces, too.

How time soars.
