Spain 2024-Day 2-Bilbao

Buds was up at 3 a.m., but I slept until 6:30! He was so perky as I was waking up that we agreed he should go out for a walk around the city while I had my quiet morning time.

Once he came back, we headed out for breakfast before our 11 a.m. walking tour. As is usual, Buds found a delightful cafe and we had a delicious breakfast.

Oatmeal with a peanut butter drizzle.
Croissant with egg, Iberico ham, avocado, goat cheese. He was a fan.

After this scrumptious beginning to our day, we walked the five minutes to the front of the Arriaga Theater to meet our tour guide, Laura, under the white umbrella. See all that information I had there? Seems like I know what's what with that tour, right?

That's what I thought, too.

The English speaking tour left at 10:15, we were told, in Spanish, then peevishly in English. 😁😁

Going on a Spanish speaking tour wasn't in the cards for us, though I did enjoy the German-only tour in Regensburg a couple years ago.

Anyway, we decided we'd go see "It's a museum" today instead of tomorrow.

It was a long walk to get there and we fell more in love with this city on the way.

Relaxing by the river.
The variety of bridges are gorgeous.
Lots of playgrounds.
I love public art, this one, not as much.

We loved the maritime museum in Hamburg, and this one in Bilbao did not disappoint. It needs a separate post because we found so much to learn and wonder about there.

We toured the museum as long as our hunger pangs allowed, then found a delicious Indian restaurant for lunch. And, you know, just walked by the Guggenheim, as one does.

Grooving by the Gugg

The inside was full at the restaurant, so we had to sit outside, but laughter and good food soon warmed us.

He's on his regular family Sunday call.
The Indian version of chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant, they brought this assortment to all the tables.

Now we're back at the apartment to relax and wait out the potential rain before going out for another explore.

It's been a glorious day so far.
