Spain 2024-Day 2-Bilbao, The End

Spain 2024-Day 2-Bilbao, The End
Drinks and pintxos

We went out and had our first pintxos (peen-chose), which is pronounced "tapas" in the non-Basque parts of Spain. A little Spanish humor for you there.

A beer for Buds, Fanta for me, and a couple tiny bites to share.

Lentil soup

The soup was wonderfully flavorful, and had one delightful green olive in it for me. (Buds is an olive hater.)

The green peppers were good, but needed salt, and Buddie's cheese balls were breaded and fried so you know they were delicious.

We did not try the "fingers de pollo."

Then we were wandered the streets, enjoy the quiet of so few cars, the beauty of the darkening sky, and a dad and son out walking their chickens.

Two pet chickens enjoy the evening.

We climbed high up into the city, seeing the stadium and other sights we needed to investigate to learn what they are.

An old furnace from Bilbao's mining days.

We found a huge park on the hill with many happy, well-trained dogs cavorting with glee as their owners chatted nearby. We saw kids playing in the park with their parents, or while the parents enjoyed a drink at the cafe nearby.

Cafe on the right.

Now we're settled back at home, ready for bed at a nearly acceptable time to Spaniards...10 p.m.

It was a beautiful end to the day.
