Italy Trip - Day 30'ish - Let's Visit A Cemetery
Nonni and Poppi had discovered a cemetery within walking distance of the farmhouse, and one clear sunny day, while Buds worked, the children and I decided to go explore it.
Down our driveway we walked, talking and storytelling the whole way.
Italy has beautifully decorated, lavish cemeteries. Electricity was run to each individual plot, and most of them had an electric light or candle of some sort, and a picture of the loved one, as well as fresh flowers or plants.
There’s running water available, as well as trash receptacles to help keep everything clean.
One last shot outside the gates. (All the cemeteries we visited were walled or fenced in.)
And then we strolled home:
It was a superb outing with some gorgeous views. And a very different field trip than we would ever take in the States.
