Weekly Wrap Up
It’s been another wonderful weekend. I try not to get the Sunday Night Blues, thinking of Buds going back to work away from us tomorrow.
To stave that off, one last blog post for tonight.
Two precious moments from our weekend.
The Buster was very excited because he used his allowance to purchase a game that only he and Dad knew about. They were snuggled on the kitchen table, making plans.
And after reading this post on Reddit: Talking Money With Kids, we realized that we have only spoken with the children in generalities about money. We decided to show them our budget spreadsheet, our investments, and the amount of money we have in our various accounts.
The two littles were only interested for a few minutes, but Monkey snuggled in on the couch with us and talked through it all with us. She had great questions, offered wonderful insights, and Buds looked at her and said, “We should have done this a long time ago!”
It is an interesting balance, wanting the children to know we have enough money that they should feel safe and secure, but we still need to save for our goals, and all our choices come at a cost. Lots to think about.
