Christmas Morning- 2013
I was awake at 3 a.m. on Christmas morning. I managed to hold off on waking anyone up, but I was grateful when the Buster, and then Yessa wandered out of their rooms.
We had a delicious, relaxing, wonderful morning of presents and togetherness.
My mom gave Buster the train that Buds and I had given my dad many, many Christmases ago. It seemed like such a lovely completion of the circle of love. Dad would have been so happy to see Buster opening this gift.
The Buster received two copies of the same book, and he and Monkey were thrilled! They attempted to read
- The Mark of Athena
at the same time, after they combined their allowance to buy it. Well, Mary and Laura Ingalls may have been able to read one book at the same time by sitting side-by-side, but our two were not pleased with this opportunity, so they were so happy that each of them would have a copy of this new book to read at their leisure.
It’s always a treat to see what pictures Nonni and Poppi have printed to go in the Gemignani Family Album, and this year was quite a surprise with childhood pictures of the family spouses, not of the Gemignani Family proper. Though I was tickled to see the sweet young people my fellow in-laws once were, I was a little stunned that my mother had to choose the picture of me that shows me with a WAFRO. What the heck was I thinking?!
In the late morning we headed over to cousins for a delightful brunch and some playing with their presents.
Another delightful Christmas.
We left for Virginia bright and early the next morning, so Monkey has insisted that for Christmas in 2014, we will NOT be taking any trips around the holidays. We’ll see if we can meet that request.
