25.3 And We're Done

25.3 And We're Done

The final Friday Night Lights for this year's CrossFit Open was dedicated to Shea, the 4 y.o. son of a member who died unexpectedly last year. Shea loved super heroes, and we celebrated him by being super heroes. You'll see lots of capes and masks in the photos.

I completed the workout on Friday morning. This was my third workout after being released from restrictions, and easily the toughest one so far. I was the only one in the class that morning, so Buds went along to cheer for me with Coach Kaley.

It was my first time back on the wall trying out wall walks.

Beginning
A tiny bit of movement.

There is plenty to critique about my stance, but I was thrilled to be putting full pressure on the left wrist not feeling pain.

I did modified weights on the barbell, and this was my first time on the rower in 4 months!

So fast.

Buds went in the 5:30 round of athletes on Friday night with the full gym milling around and 6 other athletes in his heat. Yessa and I cheered our hearts out, as well as swapping his weights for him.

Up on the wall he goes.
Row, row, row...
Snatch
Having a laugh with Coach Emily while getting ready to get back on the wall.

With three weight changes needed for 7 athletes in each of 6 time slots, there were a lot of moving parts and plenty for everyone to do to help.

Yessa and I swapped Buddie's weights, and then Buds and I judged, and all three of us helped swap out other people's weights.

My super heroes discussing strategy.
Reminds me of Baby Yessa.

I digress.

Yessa completed the workout on Saturday morning. She had Buds and me to judge and change her plates and a handful of CrossFitters there to cheer for her. Much her preference over 60 other people cheering like on Friday night.

This was a long, rough 20-minute workout. It was made better by knowing over $3000 was raised to donate to Shea's Play Fund. Hopefully that brought his parents a little solace.

Yessa took this loving photo of Buds and me having a quiet moment between sessions of the workout on Friday night.

That's it for this year's CrossFit Open. Another great community-builder.
