Call Your Senators!

Call Your Senators!

I hope to do lots of writing today, but the most important thing right now is to call your senators and tell them you stand in opposition to S.9, Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.

Here's the script I used today:

"Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from Rochester.

I’m calling to demand that Senator Kirsten Gillibrand vote against S.9, the so-called Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025. This discriminatory bill will do nothing to protect the safety of girls, but instead put all women and girls at increased risk of harassment, violence, and traumatic physical examinations.Thank you for your time and consideration."

IF LEAVING VOICEMAIL: Please leave your full street address to ensure your call is tallied.

I have been using the "5 Calls" app on my phone, which helps keep me organized and focused on the call.

I have been making calls the majority of the days. This administration is engaging in so much illegal, unconstitutional, and unethical behavior, it is difficult to not just feel outrage all the time, and that is not how I want to live my life. Making the calls, and trying to bring connection to my neighborhood and people I love are things I can control.

If you do not want to use an app to track your phone calls, here is another way to locate the phone numbers for your senators.

In addition, I have carefully curated the media I am exposing myself to. We still have a subscription to the NY Times, but I do not read it anymore. They failed us too badly in this last election. I now get my news from smaller, "newsletter" type media. I read one liberal, one conservative, and one non-partisan update every couple days.

The Courier for the liberal perspective.

The Tangle for non-partisan perspectives.

The Dispatch for conservative insights.

The Tangle and The Dispatch both manage to piss me off on the regular, but they are being honest and transparent, and honestly, they both have grave concerns about this Administration, so I trust them to be ethical in that regard. I will always disagree with them about many issues, but I am working to make sure I am trying to make our country better by understanding people of good faith on the issues.

Any of my trans loved ones reading this, you are not alone. You matter, you are valued, and I am by your side!!
