2024-Day 9-Valencia

2024-Day 9-Valencia
Early at the airport!

The taxi driver pulled up within a few minutes of us walking out the front gate of the hotel in Palma. Despite the early hour, the airport was hopping, and Buds learned the first flight of the day had already left at 5:15 a.m.

We had zargnuts to get us through.

We're invisible!

Gigante!

It was a beautiful day and fun to see Mallorca from the air.

I like knowing we biked all along that waterfront.

Since we were staying in a hotel for this first night, we had an easy place to store our luggage until we could check in later in the day. Once that was ditched, we grabbed some food, then rented bikes to begin our exploring.

Valencia built a beautiful park/monument area called the city of arts and sciences. That was where we headed.

City of Arts and Sciences

It's a large complex.
People out enjoying these gorgeous spaces. Remote-controlled boats and their captains playing in the public space.
Beautiful outdoor art
Memories are stored in the heart.
Life imitates poster. 😁 That braid stil looks good. 😆

It was a warm, sunny day, so we jumped between spots of shade and eventually made our way to a shop for sunscreen and drinks.

To walk through amazing green spaces, beauty dropped in unexpectedly everywhere... it's soul-filling.

This amazing, huge playground space at Turia Garden. This is Gulliver, as you can see in the next screenshot.
Built in trampolines at the park.
Water drainage comes through a bird's beak. 🤯

We got checked into the hotel, then headed out for a sushi dinner before going to the stadium for the soccer match.

The seats were so good, and the experience so very different from going to a stadium in the US. There were 44,000 people at this event, and the vast majority of them got there on foot or public transit. The stadium is right in town. It's not surrounded by acres of parking.

It was so much fun and the seats were so good. I even had time to read my book. 😉

That was a great ending to a splendid day.
