If giving and receiving gifts isn’t one of your love languages, it’s difficult to understand how powerful they can be for those who have them as a love language. Difficult, until you give or receive a gift that is so absolutely perfect it will hold a place in the heart forever.

We were lucky enough to receive multiple gifts like this from Buddie’s mom when we were together over New Year’s.

First, she brought us Buddie’s childhood blanket. Family lore says that he could identify the different colors by smell with his eyes closed.

It’s now framed in a place of pride on the dining room wall.

She also brought what looked like a regular 3-ring binder.

It is actually a magical binder of Buddie history.

I loved reading this newspaper article that sums Buds up so well. He DOES often look like he’s about to get into trouble!!

There were many more beautiful pictures and memories, but the very best part is Buddie’s first letter home telling his family about finding love.

Yessa and Buster were so intrigued, the letter had to be read right then.

Such a joy to walk down memory lane!
