Campus Tour
Monkey was interested in seeing the residence halls at Monroe Community College where the kids are taking classes so on Thursday we found ourselves touring campus. After a 45 minute presentation in a conference room we were shown all over campus by a wonderful second-year student. He showed us the places to get food, talked about the meal plan, took us through the interconnected buildings to see the library, various study locations, the hallways for academic, mental health, and financial aid counseling, and the wing devoted to student clubs.
The residence halls have a suite setup. The show room had two double bedrooms and one single, all sharing two bathrooms, a living room, and a full kitchen. They also have lounges, TV and gaming spaces, and laundry facilities.
Monkey and I smiled at each other as Key (our tour guide) gave the honest college talk. (She’s heard me tell RA stories.)
“We’re a federal campus. There’s no smoking of any kind, or drinking on campus. As an RA, I don’t want to write you up, so don’t smoke, and if you have alcohol, don’t leave it sitting around.”
Some things haven’t changed in 30 years.
Other than realizing, once again, how quickly people with long legs can walk with very little effort, Monkey and I enjoyed the tour a great deal.
And we stopped off for a treat on the way home. A win all around.
