New Friends
Buds and I had an outing a couple days ago with some new friends here and my heart is still full and fulfilled from the time. (Possibly Buds also made me full caffeine coffee this morning. The feelings are very similar.)
It’s different making friends in a new place now. Our main “friend locator” spots were CrossFit and UU churches, and here we have intentionally chosen not to investigate those options for a variety of reasons.
As an adult, you are looking for friends who are fun and interesting and who share your values. It isn’t about having kids who can play together nicely for two hours anymore.
We’re also at a point where we already have fantastic friends. They don’t live close to us, but we (I) still have regular contact with them and make plans for us to be together and feel supported and encouraged and inspired by them from across the miles. We don’t really _need_ new friends.
Ah, but what a joy when you find them.
Buds and I have now had more outings with these new friends and it’s been great. They would slot in very nicely with the other favorite people in our life. It’s a pleasant surprise.
