Background: For years, we’ve used “Sir” and “Miss” as a term of respect for our kids when referring to friends. For instance, Sir Todd and Miss Gina.

Deeper background: We borrowed this terminology from Sir Todd and Miss Gina.

While laying around in the couch with our soon to be a 16-year-old we started to talk about the circumstances of his birth. There were parents to be managed, coffee spills to be cleaned up, Miss Gina had come up from Topeka, and finally the arrival of our midwife, Miss Cary.

Buster starts dying of laughter, practically sobbing with mirth. It took us a while until he explained to us. But I believe you, gentle reader, can work it out for yourself.
