And So It Goes

And So It Goes

We’ve done these trips frequently enough that the consistent before and after trends have become clear.

Before these adventures, the majority of us struggle with the anxiety of travel. We ponder, or attempt to hide from, our fears about worst-case scenarios and awful outcomes.

After we are home, speaking for myself only, there is a sense of grief and loss. Especially on this trip where Buddie was able to truly take time off from work, the return to life on this side of the pond is a bit of a struggle.

I love our intense togetherness on these trips. I love hearing every insight and joke our children utter. I love knowing that Buddie loves to be with me nearly as much as I love to be with him.

Great love comes with a price. Well worth paying, but exacting a toll nonetheless.
