Italy Trip – Day 30 – Lucca Farmhouse Day Trip to Barga
As he does, Buds discovered an outstanding day trip for us. We left the farmhouse nice and early and headed to Barga.
But before we reached Barga, we had to stop at the Devil’s Bridge. Here’s a blog post from a local (that uses the exact same blog format I do), that talks about the bridge’s history.
We nestled our sweet little panda into the tiny little parking spot by the bridge, and set off to explore.
Buds did some running on the Devil’s Bridge, which the devil made him regret, then we got back on the road to Barga.
We wandered around in Barga for awhile, then Buds figured out how to get us to the parking lot from which we could walk to the Duomo. It was way up on a hill, and we had to climb and climb and climb. Plus, it was a chilly blustery day, but it was so worth it. I keep saying, “this was one of my favorite memories,” but this really was one of my favorite memories.
We talked to an expat as we wandered through town who encouraged us to return for the Barga Jazz Festival some day.
The Duomo was so beautiful and serene, the view so stunning, and the wind so impressive. It bombarded the senses.
Our trip home had to include a stop for espresso and gelato:
Another day well spent.
