Why I Write This Blog
There have been a dearth of posts lately. Plenty has been happening: Visit to my mom; new trampoline; Christmas is coming; and there are still all those Italy blog posts to write.
All those Italy blog posts…I can’t seem to get over the hurdle of writing those. Looking at the pictures still pokes at my feels too much.
So, I’m writing little tiny posts, like this one, to get out of my rut.
Here’s a story from Italy, to whet your appetite.
We were on our way from one location in Sicily to the next. We had stopped at a fantastic beach to spend some time, and we settled in for a meal at a restaurant right on the beach. As we waited for our food, we were talking about previous trips, upcoming trips, and general family conversation.
Monkey said, “Mom, I remember the trip to Costa Rica, but I can’t remember what our room looked like at the beach.”
I began to describe it to her, then I said, “Let’s pull up the blog post on Dad’s phone and you can see the room to jog your memory.”
We sat in the restaurant, reading the blog post out loud, which lead to telling stories and reminding each other of things that had happened, and great snorting laughs from all of us.
It was a perfect moment, and sums up why I write this blog.
Stories and memories are lost so easily unless they are retold and relived. I’m grateful for a medium to keep that from happening for our family and those we love.
