And "Dat" Is "That."

And "Dat" Is "That."

Buds is in Virginia for work this week, and I just sent him the following message:

Well, I hate to tell you but the end of an era occurred while you’ve been away.

Yesterday, our boy looked at me and said, “Mom, that is why…”

“That.”

Not “dat.”

I realized right away that the change had come, and when I pointed it out to him, he was surprised.

Tonight, when I tucked him into bed, I asked him if this new way of saying “that” felt strange.

He tested out saying, “that,” a few times and said, “Mom, at first it felt strange. ‘Dat.’ ‘That.'”

I think he’s got that figured out.

Almost six years to the day from the “Give Me An ‘S'” post.

What a journey we are on.

Growing up and changing, and I still cherish watching him sleep.
