Yessa Turns Eight

Yessa had a birthday this weekend, along with two of her cousins. It’s one of the fascinating things about Buds’ side of the family. Three of the ten cousins share a birthday. Pretty rare, and very cool.
We had two days of parties for the girly. Saturday was a movie and dinner from Five Guys, then cousins overnight. Sunday was church, then friends over for playing, creating a haunted house, more cake, and more playing.
I’ll share pictures below, but first a note of thanks.
On Friday morning, Buds and I realized, to our dismay, that we both had meetings after church on Sunday. We had invited friends over.Plans were all set. We couldn’t believe we had had this sort of brain failure.
Rather than change plans, we tentatively asked our friends if they’d be willing to haul all the children home for us, and hang out and play until we were through with our meetings. They agreed without hesitation.
These are friends for whom I am grateful! Thank you, Fi and Lindyne!!!
As all our birthdays do, the process begins with envisioning the birthday cake. I’ve been so grateful to move to an age where the children want to imagine and create their own cakes. It’s fantastic to watch that process.

Frankly, it is a shock that no one ever finds a hair in their piece of cake.

We saw “Alexander and The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” for the movie. I laughed the most out of everyone.
Rounding out the birthday weekend with good friends, a relaxed dinner, and much laughter…oh, and Eddie playing the guitar, was a terrific, happy, so good, very great wrap-up to the weekend.
Happy, happy birthday, Yessa. You bring us joy and laughter and light.
