Classic "Bum"

The Buster is often referred to as “Bum” by Cousin O and his sisters. The user name he come up with for himself many years ago is “Bumbram,” and that obviously shortens to “Bum.” I can only imagine how it sounds to people not in on the secret.

Tonight I had bedtime duty all to myself since Buds is still out of town. As The Buster and I snuggled in, he started talking about God.

“Does God answer everyone’s prayers, or just the holiest people’s?” He asked.

“God hears everyone’s prayers,” I told him with surety, “but God doesn’t necessarily answer prayers the way you expect.”

“It’s like God is a factory,” said Bum.

“He sits in a big conference room and an angel comes in with a huge stack of papers, ‘more prayers for you, God.'”

“Mom, do you know what the factory produces?”

“No,” I replied. “What?”

“Happiness, joy, and friends.”
