Yessa Bedroom Refresh

Yessa Bedroom Refresh

A couple days into their 9 days at home, Yessa announced that she wanted to make her room feel cozier. She thought this could be accomplished by moving the book shelves from the book nook to her room. Buds was initially reluctant. He liked how the book nook looked and felt. Then Yessa used me as a bargaining chip.

"We could move my desk into the book nook to make Mom an actual office. Don't you think Mom deserves an actual office, Dad?"

And so the work began. I am always looking for ways to move things out of our house, so going through the books was cathartic for me. We have a lot of books still, but each time we go through them, it feels lighter and lighter.

The office just as we were beginning to clear out books.
One of the many piles we went through.
Sorting and bargaining.

Once the books were cleared out, we were ready to sand and paint the bookshelves a lovely yellow Yessa had chosen to match the wallpaper in her room.

Break 'em down.
Sand 'em down.
Primer 'em up.
Mocha is on the job!
Moonie does not want to be moved!
Painted and we impatiently wait for them to dry.

While we wait until we can get books put back on the shelves, the rest of the spaces can be reset.

Desk moved out. Now Yessa has a little reading area.
I'm in love with my new little office. Turns out sitting on the couch to work wasn't that great.

After 24 hours and freezing cold open windows, the paint was dry enough for us to finish the job.

Moonie giving her opinion.
Reset and cozy, just as intended.

It looks and feels beautiful, just as planned.
