Monkey Begins Her Next Adventure

Thanks to much time, thought, and effort, Monkey has started her first outside-the-house job. She's working part-time in the bakery department at the Wegmans grocery store closest to our home. In warmer weather it will be a quick bike ride to get there.

She had one day of sitting at a computer watching training and culture videos, then today was her first day in the actual bakery. She trailed a long-time employee as he restocked and organized the bakery area, she crafted garlic bread, labeled pretzel bites, and watched the various people do the various jobs across the department. Everyone was kind and friendly, though she hopes for a little more direction and process in the days ahead.

This week she's working a 9:30 a.m. -3:00 p.m. shift. Next week she'll try out the 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. time slot. She's got a great attitude about it all, and it's fun to hear the behind the scenes insights about a large corporation.

Plus, she gets a free hat to wear.
