Monkey's Final Post-Surgical Appointment!

Monkey's Final Post-Surgical Appointment!

We saw the PA and surgeon last week and Monkey is officially cleared from any and all restrictions. They were happy, she's happy, all is well.

We have a loved one having a similar surgery in January, so we wanted to put together a post of the items Monkey found helpful.

This photo from the day of her surgery shows several of the items in use.

A gift from Babs, this wedge pillow has been used by several different family members, including after Monkey's surgery, and it's great for leaning against when sitting on the floor, watching tv.
This mastectomy pillow was her constant companion for a couple weeks.

The mastectomy pillow was critical because of the scars running under Monkey's arms, meaning she could not rest her arms against her sides the way we do normally.

Travel neck pillow helped when sleeping on the wedge.
Full body pillow. This one has become a life-long companion.
A really good eye mask

Good sleep was critical post-surgery, and this one by Manta has eye cups so there's no pressure on your eyes.

Back scratcher since she couldn't lift her arms above her head or twist.
Stone roller for scar sensitivity
Oil for scar massage
All purpose lotion
Silicone scar tape

Not pictured: Dry shampoo (This stuff was like magic for greasy hair after 3 days of no showers!), Tums, fiber if taking prescription pain-killers.

Monkey also researched an assortment of bras and button up dresses to make changing bandages and getting dressed easier.

Add Monkey to the long list of friends and loved ones who told us how happy they were with their breast reduction surgeries. It was definitely the right decision for her.
