How Low Can You Go?
Buds and I love sleeping in our attic. We love it for the darkness, the remove from the street, the bladder strengthening that happens because there is no way you want to navigate the stairs in the night. (I've stacked a few items on the stairs to keep it exciting.)
But the very best part is the cold. We adore sleeping in a cold room, toasty under the covers, weighted down by heavy blankets. The dog eventually joins us up on the bed for one big, happy pile.
We started sleeping up there full time in preparation for a visit from Monkey's best friend. They were coming to stay for a week, and we got our bedroom all ready for a comfy visit. We moved up there in mid-October, and thought we'd just see how it went.
It went great until about 30 degrees. Most nights, when it was in the low 40's during the day, mid-30's overnight, we'd be chattering when we went to bed, but flannel sheets and icy toes planted on a spouse's leg all warm up quickly. But when it stays cold during the day, and dips below freezing at night consistently, we decided the well of warmth in our souls had run dry for now.
We've been back in our bedroom for a couple weeks now, and I do miss the attic. Not enough to move back up there without a good reason, but I definitely slept better up there.
Let us know when you'd like to visit and give it a try for yourselves. You might be surprised...or not.
