Biking In The Fall-The Auburn Trail

Biking In The Fall-The Auburn Trail
Tiny turtle we saved.

Biking on a crisp Fall day is one of our very favorite things to do. Buddie has been very excited to show me the Auburn Trail; a rails-to-trails path which he tried out when I was in Iowa for Uncle Randy's funeral. Yesterday, on Sunday, we finally felt comfortable leaving Monkey for an extended time, and the weather was gorgeous, so off we went.

Since we were still without a stove, we began with by popping down to Hydra for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee.

Then we geared up, including winter gloves for me, and off we biked.

The trail is destined to be a favorite for us going forward. It runs through the woods for miles, across open farmland in other areas; it's well-maintained, and we saw people walking and biking, but never felt crowded.

We saw a woodchuck, many deer, and saved one tiny turtle who had stopped to take a nap after nearly making it all the way across the path. Buds nestled him in the high grass on the side where he was headed so he would be safe.

Thirty miles round trip, which made Buds intrigued to do another 100 mile ride, and me to offer to pick him up at the end of his 100 mile bike ride.

Looking forward to many more Autumn rides.
