Sunday Calls

Buddie's parents and his siblings have a long tradition of a video chat every Sunday. They all commit to it consistently, calling in from vacations or work travel, if at all possible. It's worked so well to help them stay connected, we picked up the habit and carried it over to our kids.
The first Sunday, which was only 3 days after we had dropped them off at Binghamton, Monkey was out with a friend, so it was just the four of us. I was in Iowa for Uncle Randy's funeral, so we were all on separate screens.

Yessa reserves a room at the library for her Sunday calls so she doesn't disturb her roommate, although her roommate also talks with her family frequently, too. Buster does his calls from his room, and Buds and I wander wherever we are in the house.
On this first Sunday, we did have funny moments when Buster and Yessa were switching from phone to computer or vice versa, so we had multiples of each child.

Everyone talks about their week, and since Yessa and Buster don't always see each other during the school days, it is a chance for them to catch up as well. They have discovered they have class right next to each other 2 or 4 days a week. Buster has had a slight shift in his schedule, so it's a little unclear still.
Even though we are in touch with the kids regularly throughout the week, I love having the Sunday night call to look forward to for focused time together.
