The Run Up To Good-bye

As you have figured out by now, there were big emotions leading up to the children moving into their dorms at Binghamton University. Buster needing to finish his summer class, Yessa finishing up work, packing, organizing, sorting. They also had to be sure they weren't missing any important emails about the Transfer Summit they were both attending, allowing them to move on campus a couple days before the other new students returned.
In the midst of all the hubbub and hustle, we still made time to check a few items off the summer bucket list.
I suggested we watch some sort of "classic" movie from when Buds and I were young so the kids could see all the crazy notions we had to clear out of our brains to become better people. "Pretty Woman," "16 Candles," "Dirty Dancing," any of those that would have the children looking at us in horror that we had loved the movie. We couldn't convince them to go that far, but Monkey suggested "Legally Blonde" and we had a great time watching that together again.
Another night we had talked about a picnic at Cobbs Hill Park, but it was 90+ degrees outside, so we had an indoor picnic. No ants, no humidity, but a few invasive critters staring at you while you ate.

Also in the mix was lots of organizing, packing, and planning.
Yessa and Monkey worked together to give Monkey's room a freshen up look.

And lots of time deciding what to pack...

They've been at school 2 weeks today, and the house still feels strange without them. I'm glad we had such a lovely summer of time together.
