Super Sunday

Sunday proved to be a full day with biking and shopping and a movie and love and laughter.
We left home early to bike out to a new coffee shop in Henrietta.

The atmosphere of the Layali coffee shop was bright and European feeling, but my favorite part was these moveable arm rests for the person sitting on the bench side of the table.

Their lack of vegan food items meant we next biked to The Original Steve's Diner to round out our breakfast.

Once we were home and Buds was settled on his family phone call, Yessa and I headed to the thrift store that my co-workers had declared their favorite. Between this store and our outing to a thrift store the day before, we found delightful dresses and clothes for all the members of the family.

The afternoon brought a chance to go see the new Superman movie. We had both heard good things, and none of the kids wanted to go, so it was a date afternoon outing for us. We had seats in the 2nd row and settled in with our hummus and fresh veggies and giant pretzel that we ordered for our dinner.

I remember watching the Christopher Reeve Superman when I was a child. Buds and I rewatched it last week, and it was still a solid, kind movie. As was the style, it moves slowly, develops the characters methodically; it shows its age, but we still enjoyed it.
This latest Superman, it moves fast, develops the characters with lightning speed, relies on CGI and social media tropes, and it was a smashing success for us. We laughed and cried, and had much to talk about after the movie was over. We loved it. And I loved reading that rescue dog adoptions have surged seemingly in response to the crazy Krypto canine star of the show.
I could tell you problems with the movie or what negative things some reviews have said, but I'm not going to. Buds and I felt hopeful, inspired, and shed a tear. That's a win.
