Room Selection Complete

Room Selection Complete
Keep refreshing.

It was high drama yesterday here at Casa G. Housing for transfer students is not guaranteed at Bing. Both kids wanted to live on-campus; Buster in an apartment, which are all single rooms with 3-5 roommates. Yessa wanted the full dorm experience, with a single roommate.

Assigned a time via a lottery system, they found out on June 18 what their times were for logging into the system and selecting from the available rooms.

Though both June 23rd and 24th were the dates they could be assigned, we were thrilled when Buster got June 23rd at 11 a.m. for his time slot, and Yessa got June 23rd at noon. Even with those early slots (We assumed the process began at 9 a.m.), there was a fair amount of fretting by the parents as the time drew closer.

There was joy all through the house when Buster had the chance, out of 20 beds available to him, to snag a super single in the 6th spot in an apartment. After he chose his bed, he read the profiles of the future roommates and they are a great fit for him. So happy!!

Then we had the hour to wait to see what Noa's options were. We were a little shocked to see the system update to show that she would only have 10 options for spots, but with the swift decisiveness that she musters when needed, she chose the room she thought would be her best option, and when her time opened up, she grabbed it!!

Let the refreshing begin.

She's emailed her future roommate, and the profile for this person also looks like a great fit. A favorite part of the future home is that it's the building with its own library, which is a preferred place to study for our girl.

Yessa's group was the last one. All available beds were taken by 12:45 p.m., which means any students after her will have to go on a waiting list to see if housing spots open up. We feel so badly for them, and so unbelievably grateful both Yessa and Buster secured spots in places that will be a great fit.

One more box checked. August 12th move-in will be here before we know it.
