Getting Oriented - Binghamton June 2025

June shaped up to be a busy, busy month. Buster and Yessa needed to attend orientation and get signed up for classes. While they were doing their info sessions, Buds and I had a parallel track of family orientation where we learned more about Binghamton, how it would support our students, and how we could start learning to step back and let our kids step up.
Before we could drive to Binghamton for that, we needed to vote in our local primary since we'd be headed right to Vermont after orientation. It was Yessa's first time voting, which is a very big deal!

Yessa had to work that night, so the rest of us got all packed up and we scooped her up after work and headed right for Bing.
We had to check in at 8 a.m. on Monday morning for orientation, and we've done the 5 a.m. drive from Rochester before, so we allowed ourselves the luxury of a stay in a hotel 6 minutes from campus. It's been a hot minute since the five of us have shared a hotel room.

We tried to find "Cake Boss," a show the kids and I would always look
The next morning, Monkey settled back into bed after breakfast while the rest of us headed for campus.

We were together for the first couple activities, then the kids went off with a small group to start getting to know new people.

Lots of good information gathered from the initial info. session. The kids talked to people from the library, study abroad, work study, family weekend, and transportation folks.

Buds and I had a fantastic time attending each of the events, chatting with people, joking, learning, and planning.

Buds and I ran back to pick up Monkey and check out of the hotel, then lunch on campus and a few more sessions.
The day wrapped up around 4 p.m. We grabbed a family photo with Baxter, then loaded up for our next adventure; a week in Vermont. It's no wonder June has flown by.
