Monkey "Be The Match" Final Update

Monkey "Be The Match" Final Update

Monkey received this email yesterday:

"Thank you for honoring your commitment as a NMDP® member and for being there when a patient needed you. We greatly appreciate the significant investment you made and your patience in waiting to hear what’s next.

We’re so excited to inform you that the patient we contacted you about has received a transplant from another donor. At this time, the patient’s doctors have informed us that we no longer need to keep you on hold as a potential donor. It’s possible your patient’s situation could change. If this is the case, we will contact you immediately.

This news is often met with a variety of thoughts or feelings such as disappointment, confusion, or maybe relief. These emotions are common. If you have any questions or wish to discuss this information further, please contact us at hw001@nmdp.org. We are happy to speak with you.

You will remain on the registry as available for all searching patients until the age of 61 — unless you inform us at any point that you are unable or unwilling to donate. We will notify you if you become a match for another patient throughout the rest of your time on the registry.

No further action is needed at this time. As always, please let us know whenever your contact information changes or if there are changes in your health.

Thank you again for your willingness to help save the life of a patient in need. The hope you have provided to your patient and their family cannot be overstated. If you’d like to learn about other ways to get involved, please visit bethematch.org."

Monkey still hopes to be a match in the future, and we're glad the person in this instance seems to be doing well. All good outcomes.
