Buster Turns 21

Buster Turns 21

The timing worked out perfectly that Aunt R and M were here to help us celebrate Buster's birthday. He opted for a low-key day since he had to go to class in the morning and work as a Japanese tutor in the afternoon. Yessa, Buds, and I also had to work, so we did some cheering for him when he woke up on Thursday morning, then had a full day until Buds and I picked him up from campus after he was through with work.

As soon as Yessa got home from her job, we headed for Maru Izakaya, the family favorite.

We settled into our long table for delicious food, conversation, and Aunt Rebecca impressed us with tiny origami. Buds created a tiny paper airplane for some flights around the table, too.

Buster tried crab sushi for the first time, to go with his favorite shrimp tempura. Probably his last time eating crab sushi.

Back at home he opened the couple gifts and cards. Money from the grandparents on both sides was gratefully received.

Yessa spent a full day crafting him a picture.

Buds picked out some socks to make Buster's walking and workouts more comfortable.

Relaxed, self-paced, laughter, deep thought, and love; a day just like the person we were celebrating.

So grateful you are you, Buster.
