NYC 2025-Day 8
We left Manhattan behind around noon, after Buds had another chance to shop at Muji, or what we're calling, "The Japanese Store." We had gone the day before and gotten a few items, but it didn't take long for me to start trying to play dead to get out of doing any more shopping.
Buds was glad to have time to go back and enjoy himself looking around and trying on clothes, and I was so glad for him to do that...without me.
We took the PATH train over to Jersey City, a nice, straight shot.
We went by Christopher Street on our way.
We're staying in a room in someone's home while we're here. It's a comfortable space, and we were glad to drop off our items, get introduced to the humans and the dogs, then head out to grab some lunch.
One of the reasons we wanted to see Jersey City, besides Buddie's best friend from college, is the walkability. We left our rented room and walked 1 block to Tacoria, a basement restaurant space that poured from the door right into the activity of the small, low-ceilinged dining. We had delicious, inexpensive food, and chatted with our server who had just returned from 24 days in Cefalú, Sicily. We spent a splendid day at the beach there with Buster and Yessa on our 7 week trip in 2015. (Monkey stayed home to have a work day on her own.)
The day held such gems as this video:
After our delicious lunch and Sicily reminiscing, we headed back to our Jersey City home to write and read. The highlight of the evening was coming up with dinner out at Würstbar with Buddie's best college friend and wife, Peter and Val. They've lived in JC for a couple decades now, so we knew they'd pick out a great dinner location.
They did.
After dinner we headed to their home for a visit before we walked back through the sparkly night to get our 2nd-to-the-last sleep before heading home.
