NYC 2025-Day 2, Unexpected Bonus

Buds and I settled in at a work station in one of the community areas at the Pod and wrote and planned for a couple hours late this afternoon. We had talked about walking out for a nice dinner, but neither of us had much of an appetite, and we were enjoying our time together, so we just kept at it.

Around 6:30, as we were getting ready to pack up, Buds said, "I had thought about, but no, we probably don't want to do anything else." I asked for more info., and when he said, "Second City comedy club," once I understood he had already done some research and it was truly an option, I was all in.

With the ease of everything being so close here, we were settled in our seats in the last row on the floor of the house by 6:55 p.m.

There were pieces of paper and pencils on our tiny cafe table, as the beginning of the audience participation.

The show was a little over an hour with a cast of 6 comedians. There were many big laughs and they really kept the skits flowing. It felt like they had worked together long enough to be comfortable with themselves and each other, and they trusted each other to come through as needed.

I asked Buds if he liked tonight more than last night's comedy club experience, and we agreed that the experiences were so different they can't really be compared. I laughed more than I did last night, and there were fewer uncomfortable moments tonight than last night. Second City is so iconic. So many known comedians have tested their comedic timing within this famous framework. It was a trip to experience it.
