Gather Round The Christmas Tree
With the busy end of the semester upon us, we did not set up the Christmas tree right after we had gotten it. It sat on the back porch for a couple days then froze in the bucket of water we set it in. We brought it inside to warm up, then tried to stand it up, but it wanted to lean.
Those who were involved in trying to get the tree standing straight (In other words, everyone without a broken arm), realized the trunk had gotten too chewed up by being frozen, thawed, ground into, leaning, etc.
Buds and the kids pulled it out of the stand, sawed off a couple inches, and voila, it would stand up straight.
Sitting in the dark, the room lit only by the rainbow of Christmas lights, is one of my favorite parts of the season. Even if it is for less time this season, we'll enjoy it just as much.
