Monkey's Second Birthday

Monkey's birthday was celebrated in August when Kel, Bets, and Kate were here, but with group consensus we chose to go to get fro-yo then, rather than a birthday cake. I promised Monkey we would still do a cake.

Then life got busy, and I forgot. Monkey lovingly reminded me last week, and last weekend we sang to her once again.

To accommodate all the dietary and sweetness preferences, I made a vegan vanilla cake, a 1/2 batch of vegan vanilla frosting for between the cakes, and then a big batch of The Best Buttercream Frosting whipped extra long to make it fluffy and more similar to commercial bakery frosting, which Monkey adores. After we sang and Monkey blew out the candles, Yessa and I cut our pieces and then the rest of the family could create the cake and frosting amounts of their choice.

Not the elaborate cake creations we used to craft, but the love is still baked in.
