Stony Brook Friday
Buds found a beautiful state park with a swimming hole for us to try out on Friday. About an hour south, it was a perfect day to be out enjoying nature and our home ground.
The water was a crisp 68°. Buds and Monkey jumped in, quickly leading to numbness in their lower extremities. The rest of us entered at a more sedate pace, meaning the numbness was gradual.
After an hour in the water, we climbed out and Monkey guarded our bags while the rest of hiked up river.
Built by the WPA in the late 1930's, the bridges, stairs, and paths were beautiful and well cared for.
After we hiked back, picked up Monkey, and had our picnic lunch, we drove home with a stop for Rita's Italian ice and custard.
It was a splendid way to spend a Friday.
