Ketchup chips--unique to Canada. They were weird. Tasted too much like ketchup.

I was only at Gem-fest for approximately 2 days, but there were several things I noticed I was intrigued by in the great country to our north.

First up, at the grocery store. Because there were 7 of us shopping together on the grocery trip I joined in on, we would sometimes block the aisle. Two different times I looked up to realize we were stopping another shopper from getting through.

There was no frustration, no anger, not even an "excuse me" to alert us. Just quiet patience.

Then, when we'd say, "Oops, sorry," and move out of the way, they'd smile and thank us, and walk through.

Second was the electric traffic update signs when driving. I never saw one with a traffic warning, so I don't know how they share negative news, but when there are no traffic issues, the sign says, "Traffic moving well." The positive attitude thrills me.

The final item of note came up after Buds dropped me at the airport for my flight to Detroit. I stopped at a restaurant for breakfast and the news was on the screen in front of the bar where I was seated.

A neighborhood was shook because--clutches pearls--shots were fired. No one was hurt, they weren't even sure where they were fired, but they heard a gun.

How we yearn for that naivete in the United States.

Not a specific Canadian item, but here's a fun fact for you. Delta's longest flight is 17 hours. 🤯

I know it's true because the napkin wouldn't lie.

I look forward to more time in Canada. My short visit was a delight.
