Let's Go Racing!
Non-wing

My great-nephew races wing and non-wing mini sprint cars, and since he was racing in Iowa only an hour away, we jumped at the chance to go watch in person. It was a chilly, but beautiful night, and we had so much fun.

My niece, Cruz's mom, had texted me earlier in the day to let me know there was a good handicap section in the stands so we'd be able to push Mom around in her wheelchair. (She's been using the chair for long distances until she has her knee replacement surgery.) Knowing what we were looking for made it much less stressful and we knew we could make this adventure happen with a minimum of difficulty.

We left before he had his winning heat for the night, but it was exciting to watch the 3 rounds of him racing that we did get to see.

I loved these photos that were posted on FaceBook of the night.

Cruz buckled in, ready to race.

My nephew (and ring bearer 😍) with Cruz.

It was such an Iowa sort of night. A great crowd of people out to cheer and laugh and enjoy time together.

A little video in case you've never seen sprint car racing.

And for posterity, my brother's sprint car from back in the day when he was racing.

Speed runs in the family.
