Spain 2024-Day 16-Granada
Sunset on a train

We were tired of Córdoba so spending the day in Granada came at the perfect time.

We were too late to get tickets to the Alhambra, so we picked a different adventure instead.

After our early morning run,

and a cafe stop,

The tour guide in Palma told us these were only sold in Palma. I guess no one told Córdoba?

and a train ride,

we were in Granada.

Thanks to Atlas Obscura, a website deducted to unusual things to see, we were headed for the Museo Cuevas Del Sacromonte.

This meant climbing high up into the hills above Granada.

We stopped at a cafe for fortification first and sat next to a young Justin Medeiros look-alike. He had been traveling the world from Seattle after finishing uni. He'll start with Ernest and Young in the financial sector in San Francisco in another six weeks. We wished him the best of luck in hanging onto his soul.

Passed by this Christopher Columbus head?

We started our climb into the hills.

We climbed...
And paused...

Then climbed some more.

Where we're headed.
Nearly there.
Made it!

We ended up at the beautiful living museum. It was so well done.

There were 11 different caves for us to go through to see how the people who live in the hills live/d.

The caves were probably 20° cooler than the air outside.

The community connection.

There was a lot to read and explore and understand. We enjoyed it a lot.

Watching the frogs.
Relaxing and imagining.
Great views of the Alhambra across the valley.

After we'd gotten our fill of caves, we headed back down to a gallery where we bought some art we were excited about, then had pizza at a cafe with outside misters that cooled us right off.

Buds was on his family call for a bit, laughing at a story from his mom.

We hiked back down into town, finding a park to sit in the shade and chat with the kids, and enjoy the time together.

Then back on our train back to Córdoba, getting home after dark, tired after a full and fun day.
