Humor Abroad

We laugh easily, and when traveling there is often so much to laugh at; including ourselves.

We've seen several translation quirks that have made us laugh.

I saw a young white mom with a 6 y.o. kiddo trailing along behind her with a t-shirt on that said, "Sex, Drugs, and Pinot Noir."

That got me.

Also the 10 year old white girl biking with her family who had on a shirt that said, "What the damn"

The favorite so far was the white woman wearing a burgundy sweatshirt. I recognized the lettering and the color and expected it to be one like this:

What I expected...

What I got:

Not sure what my BU friends would think.

There was also the moment of shared connection and humor this morning when the Spanish tourist mom was waiting as her sandy-blonde-haired daughter next to me at the braiding salon was getting many braids and wispy blue extensions put in.

My hair isn't very long, so the woman braiding it had to hang on for dear life to keep all the strands in. At one point she had to physically pull my head back up onto my shoulders because I was subconsciously trying to easy my way out of the chair to save my scalp.

I glanced at the Mom with my tear-filled eyes, and the wide-eyed look on her face as she watched me get braids made me bust out laughing. Then we both laughed, which eased the pain.

Her pain will last longer though because her daughter's hair was going to take about 3 hours. Mine was short and sweet.

Still looking perky here.

Got some video, and you can tell right when it starts to get serious...

It's all fun and games until it's not.

May we always have laughter.

Adding another joke I forgot!

We've introduced you to Puppy. Puppy is a personality of note in Bilbao, and this billboard made us laugh.

If you are older than Puppy, you can drink Cinzano.
