Supertaster of the Heart

I have a question for you.

When you read a book of fiction, do you observe the characters or inhabit them?

Do you read what they feel or do you feel what they feel?

Ginnie asked this question of the gang here at G-Fest 2023-Orlando edition. The results surprised her because she was alone.

For years, I’ve been prescreening movies and media for emotional content. If it’s too dark, too intense, we avoid it. Ginnie remembers emotional context, and can recall (and hold) old arguments and grudges. I thought it was the intense Scots-Irish history of the Dickerson clan, but now I think it’s something else.

Ginnie’s a super-emoter. It’s like being a supertaster. For supertasters, some foods are too much, too bitter or too spicy. For Ginnie, the antennae are always up for emotional content.
