Lessons Learned - Europe 2023
Besides learning we felt comfortable and energized by Seville, several other insights were realized.
Packing only two pair of underwear is one too few.
A small backpack for short outings was really helpful.
An important lesson was learned on the drive home. As mentioned, we flew in and out of Toronto, which worked well, but due to the 6 hour delay it was much later than planned. I had slept a bit on the plane, so I thought I was fine for driving home. We were so very ready to be home. We decided Yessa would be my partner in staying awake while Buds tried to catch some sleep.
It was the longest drive I’ve had in a very long time. Yessa gave me a very stern talking to when we got home about me being too tired for the drive, and she was right. We all agreed on the different decisions we would make for next time, and we all felt better after the discussion.
The drive was bad, but the parking was great. We used Park 4 You for the first time, and it worked out really well. You swing by their parking lot, one of their drivers drives you and all your stuff to the airport, then they park your car and watch over it while you are gone. When you fly back in, they pick you up in your own car, you drop them off at their facility, and off you go. Quick and efficient, and no loading your luggage onto a shuttle bus.
Another important lesson was that the kids have the skills they need for taking care of hearth and home. There were stressful parts, but they learned a great life lesson.
Final lesson, we love this home with these people, even as we make plans for our next adventure which will look very different.
