Lisbon to Porto - Day 5 - Europe 2023
It was a travel day which is always quirky, plus our train wasn’t until 11:30, so a full morning of packing time.
Buds decided he had time to run in for a fresh-squeezed orange juice.
The train ride was easy. It runs near the water toward the end of the journey.
We had a little difficulty buying the right kind of pass for the bus to get to our apartment. If anyone is in need of 25 regional train tickets around Porto, let us know. We’ll sell them cheap. 😉
After we settled in at the new apartment, we began our exploration of this new city.
Our destination, Mercado do Bolhão, an indoor market. On our walk there we passed by beauty and wonder.
I literally gasped when we came around a corner to see this church.
This church, Parish of Il Defonso, feels ancient and timeless, yet so very, very tired. It wasn’t open tonight, and it looked abandoned, but I hope I get a chance to go inside.
This market was exactly to my liking. To walk in and be greeted by gorgeous piles of fruit and a gorgeous smile?! I’m here for that!
Yessa, Buds, and I shared a fruit cup as we walked around, and Buds got a glass of “walk-around” port. It was super sweet and delicious.
We all found some food that hit the spot for a very late lunch.
A walk home with a stop at the store and the farmacia, getting back just as it really started raining.
As we walked through a plaza, Buds and Yessa were taking the video seen in the Bob post earlier.
Here they are at the apartment, video editing together.
The last outing of the night was to a hip pizza place on the fourth floor of a parking garage. We didn’t have a reservation, but they made room for us.
And all the pizzas:
The day is done except Buds and I are waiting for the owner to drop off the correct size sheet for our bed. Then we rest.
Tomorrow morning, a walking tour of Porto.
