That Was Unexpected

Buster had his math midterm yesterday, and I was relaxing in a hallway at MCC while I waited for him to finish.

“Excuse me,” I heard next to me, and I looked up to find a young white woman with a pixieish face standing next to me.

“Hi,” I said, wondering if I was going to be asked for cash or directions or something else typical.

“Would you be interested in a full dental cleaning?” she asked with a smile and raised eyebrows.

Autopilot caused me to answer, “Oh, no thank you.”

She bobbed her head, smiled, and went on her way while I was left to wonder.
