Europe Trip #1 - April 2, 2022 - Eataly Bites
Buds and I were planning a leisurely stroll around Eataly. We strolled around a bit, but then things took a dark turn when we had one of our exceedingly rare disagreements.
Our last disagreement was June 10, 2018, so the timer resets now.
It’s been [0] days since your last emotional accident.
It was much like your classic rom-com with a misunderstanding; an emotional reaction on both sides that would have seemed hugely out of proportion to anyone not inside our heads.
I stormed out of Eataly, and luckily Buds has seen enough romantic comedies to know that he had to run after me.
There was a touching scene with our heroes standing in a doorway, snow falling all around them while they bare their souls, explore their unexpected deepest fears that led to the misunderstanding, then reconnect and recommit with laughter and kisses.
Though I’m writing of it lightly here, it was actually very distressing and upsetting to both of us. And it helped me understand Buds even better. The way we each process big emotions is so deeply different, it’s a wonder we so seldom have these startling interactions.
It was a strange event that I didn’t ever expect to have happen, and hope never to repeat, but I am growing fond of the image in my head of how romantic and loving we must have looked to bystanders as he followed me out into the snow.
What I think we looked like:
What we probably looked like:
It’s good to have honest love.
