Reminders
I’ve left all the calendar reminders in place, and though the family chatted about it this afternoon and we all agreed we are glad to be here together, I’m still allowing myself to feel the sorrow of not sitting at the gate, ready to board our British Airways flight to London, with a second hop to Rome.
Tomorrow I’ll be back to all gratitude, but tonight, I’m missing the world we all left behind; the Italy that wasn’t having to choose which elders to save; and a time when a flight meant only the excitement of adventure awaited us.
