The Great West Coast Tour - Day Thirteen - Solvang, CA
Nathan had given us a couple suggested locations for where he and his family liked to spend time closer to the coast. Like us, they prefer smaller crowds, less traffic, and time to enjoy being together.
Solvang fit the bill for all of this, in addition to being quirky and fun with great restaurant options, not too expensive, and a perfect spot for celebrating the 4th of July and our wedding anniversary.
Buds found us a perfect apartment hotel with lots of space for everyone to work and walking distance to downtown.
The first day we drove over from Santa Clarita and got settled in.
After a run to the grocery store for supplies, I headed out to wander the town on my own.
I discovered a surprise location right next door.
I knew Buster would be thrilled at the chance to get some VR in after weeks away from Beat Saber.
Nathan told me to be sure to browse the “As Seen On TV” store, which had some hilarious items for sale. And apparently all ages need to be throwing axes.
Solvang is a Danish village, which lead to fun architecture, interesting places to eat, and fun shops to browse.
Our hotel is on the left in this shot and the gorgeous view in the distance. Another type of mountain terrain to add to the variety we’ve seen on this grand adventure.
It really was the perfect place for us as we waited for Nathan, Frances, and the boys to join us for the 4th of July.
