We’re off to our third city: Hamburg. Buddie discovered a train ticket that allows us to only pay for four of us (kids 14 and under travel free with an adult), and allowed us to take any train, as many trains as we want/need.

The official name is a “SchΓΆnes-Wochenende-Ticket,” but we refer to it as the weekend fun pass.

Since we got this great deal, it means you can only take regional trains, which we also call “milk trains,” because they stop at every train station or wooden platform.

Hence, we are currently on the second of six trains for today. The schedule looks like this:

15 minutes train out of Rothenberg to Steinach

14 minute layover

45 minutes train from Steinach to WΓΌrzburg.

42 minute layover

2:20 minutes train from WΓΌrzburg to Erfurt

49 minute layover

2:39 minutes train from Erfurt to Magdeburg

14 minute layover

1:44 minute train from Magdeburg to Uelzen

14 minute layover

And finally, Dear God thank you:

61 minute train from Uelzen to Hamburg.

A long day, but our time in Hamburg is a little longer which will be fantastic, and we’re staying in an apartment, so we’ll be able to make our own meals and settle in a little.

Have a great day, wherever you are.
