Yessa Belays!

Belaying is the skill of being able to safely lower a fellow climber after he or she has fallen off the rocks in a wall climb, or has climbed to the top of the intended climb and doesn’t want to climb down.

Yessa learned this skill yesterday and was so proud.

At the climbing place we frequent, she won’t be able to belay other people until she is 13 (except in her climbing class), but I look forward to the day when she’s climbing with Buds or me, and our lives are in her hands. She already carries our hearts, eventually she’ll have our bodies, too.

Who wouldn’t trust this face?
